BUSINESS PLANS
This presentation is used in conjunction with an official business plan that I had developed for: "TechMate Technology Management," my first formal business plan which was part of the requirements of my Business Entrepreneurial Program from Dalhousie University, here in Halifax, Nova Scotia. You can see this business plan by clicking on the PDF document, "Plan" located on the SYOB Reference Page, along with various other PDFs that we will implement throughout the curriculum. As well, you will see the Plan EX1 and the Plan EX2, this is an assistance exercise that prompts you for business plan answers and provides you with a glossary of business plan terms, definitions.

ACCOUNTING INTRO.
An integral, necessary and bound by CRA rules, law, is having an account of all your earnings and expenses. Accounting. Here we will start with the basics and then move onto, in a latter course, into accounting applications, software such as QuickBooks. Keep in mind that this course is focused on the bare essentials to get your business up and running. An example for this presentation, a basic excel based accounting method, "Journal EX" is the PDF document shown in the next paragraph, Part II. The "Journal SA" and the Chart of Accounts, "Chart" was created with the Simply Accounting software application, now known as Sage 50. BASIC ACCOUNTING
For the purpose's of a quick accounting setup, Keep all of your receipts: Rental and/or Mortgage payments, Utility payments, New Car payments, Gas receipts, Clothes receipts, even you Barber or Beauty Saloon receipts ...the list goes on and on! Examine the journals, the "Journal SA and Journal EX." Note that the recording of entries and subsequent expenses. The purpose will become evident in the "Income Statement" section. Note: If you are starting a "Side Business," we will certainly explore this further.

Refer to the example of a "Journal SA"; on the SYOB Reference Page. This is an entry ledger, that was generated, created by implementing the Software Accounting Program called: "Simply Accounting", which has been replaced by Sage 50, and it's close competitor software packages: "Quick Books."
In the advanced sections, TTM will introduce and offer assistance with one of these software accounting applications. At this point, let us do a quick progress check, quiz.
